Microsoft has given DocCom a major vote of confidence by
inviting it to showcase its technology at an exclusive summit of
Europe's top ICT investors and entrepreneurs.
The enterprise social networking company for healthcare is
one of just 15 start-ups across the continent to win a place at
the
Microsoft European Bizspark Summit.
It means DocCom will be pitching its cloud-based
communication platform for healthcare professionals to more than
200 of Europe's leading entrepreneurs, venture capital firms,
incubators, government representatives and media.
An independent international jury at the event in Brussels on
June 14 will then select the Summit winner 2011.
Bindi Karia, Microsoft's VC/ Emerging Business Lead, said:
"DocCom were selected because they are real innovators in the
healthcare vertical. They are doing something very interesting and
different with cloud-based technology and that's the big focus for
Microsoft right now."
DocCom, which was founded in 2007 by two doctors, battled
through two qualification rounds and impressed a panel of expert
judges from across Europe to be named one of the continent's most
innovative and promising start-ups.
The announcement comes as DocCom prepares to launch free
registration for its user interface doccom.me, which means any
healthcare professional in the UK will be able to use DocCom's
secure, private networks to find, share and collaborate with each
other.
Co-founder Dr Jonathan Bloor, said: "This is a hugely
exciting and critical time for DocCom in our mission to trigger a
paradigm shift in the way healthcare professionals communicate with
each other. To have the backing and recognition of a technology
giant like Microsoft is fantastic. We are very much looking forward
to presenting at the summit."
